Skincare. Woman with beautiful face touching healthy facial skin.

The first signs of aging appear on our faces in the form of wrinkles and deep lines. These lines take away the youthful appearance that we once had. They come about as a natural result of growing older, exposure to the sun, smoking, stress, and other factors.

These days, people who have started noticing early signs of aging are actively working to treat them. A dermal filler like Restylane is the perfect solution to these signs of aging.

What Is Restylane?

Restylane is an FDA-approved dermal filler that is very popular in over 61 countries. It is one of the newer non-surgical facial treatments available.

This filler comes in the form of a biodegradable gel. It is able to smooth away moderate to severe wrinkles and folds on the face.

How Does Restylane Work?

Restylane is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the connective tissue of our skin. The synthetic hyaluronic acid that is present in Restylane attracts water molecules, which serves to rehydrate and volumize the skin. Adding volume to wrinkles fills them in for a more youthful appearance.

What Are the Benefits of Using Restylane?

Restylane has a variety of benefits:

  • It smoothes out moderate and deep wrinkles and provides support where it is needed.
  • It rehydrates your skin by attracting water molecules and binding them. This subsequently gives your skin a refreshed and youthful look.
  • It restores facial volume that has been lost due to aging.
  • It better defines the shape of your face.
  • Due to its composition, it gives your face a more natural look after treatment instead of a frozen one.

What Happens During the Restylane Procedure?

During an informative consultation with Dr. Richardson, you will discuss the procedure in greater detail, along with post-treatment care steps to take. Afterwards, you will schedule a date for your Restylane injection procedure.

On the day of your procedure, Dr. Richardson may administer local anesthesia to prevent any discomfort or pain that you may feel during the procedure. He will proceed to mark and identify the areas that need to be treated. An antiseptic will be used to clean these areas.

Dr. Richardson will then inject Restylane into these areas using a needle. Depending on your treatment, the procedure can take half an hour or less. Because it is so short and convenient, many people get it done during their lunch break.

What Are the Results After a Restylane Procedure?

The results and improvements of Restylane are visible relatively quickly and last for months. It takes about two weeks for the effects to be fully evident. The effects of Restylane can last up to 18 months; because Restylane is not a permanent filler, you will have to come in for follow-up treatments.
